Mark Pisoni

Farming and Vineyard Manager at Pisoni Vineyards

As breathtakingly beautiful as it is remote, Pisoni Vineyards is a patchwork of individually farmed mountainous blocks that yield some of the country’s most prized Pinot Noir. Planted by the inimitable and larger-than-life Gary Pisoni, this journey has been a labor of love for three generations of the Pisoni family. Pisoni Vineyards has been described as a “Grand Cru site” by multiple critics, including both Robert Parker Jr. and Jeb Dunnuck. The Wine Enthusiast recognized it as one of “California’s Best Single Vineyards.”

Mark Pisoni manages all farming and vineyards and has a true connection to the soil. Mark combines decades of experience and apprenticeship under his father and grandfather to nurture the vines and land through another generation of careful and quality-focused farming. Together with his winemaking brother, Jeff, they focus the efforts of their generation on driving for even more sustainable practices. Moves such as installing an insectary, apiary, omitting herbicides, and diversifying agriculture have earned the family achievements such as California’s Green Medal and Integrated Pest Management awards.

Combining unique and conscientious farming on these special mountain ridges continues to warrant Pisoni Vineyards as being recognized as one of California’s most prestigious vineyard sites.

As noted by Antonio Galloni, “grapes from the Pisoni Vineyard are some of the most highly sought in California.”

Mark is a panelist for The New "Grand Cru" of California Seminar on Friday, March 1 from 9:30am - 11:30am.
