Domaine Nico is the highest elevation Pinot Noir Vineyard in the world, with planting close to five thousand feet above sea level in Medoza Argentina. Domaine Nico single-parcel wines were inspired by Laura Catena’s travels to France as a teenager, where she first fell in love with the Pinot Noir from Burgundy. Convinced that similar terroir-based wines could be achieved in Mendoza, a team was assembled to study the flavors of Pinot Noir at high altitudes. The result was parcel-specific wines with intense floral aromas, delicate minerality and classic elegance comparable to those from the Old World.
To Laura, Pinot Noir wines have a feminine tour de force, so she thought it fitting to name the range after her daughter’s nickname, Nico, while also paying homage to her great-grandfather, Nicola Catena, founder of the family winery in 1902.
