  • 2021 Etude Grace Benoist Ranch Carneros Estate Pinot Noir
    Grace Benoist Ranch, Carneros
    Expand
The Etude Carneros Pinot Noir is a blend of the best grapes from individual vineyard parcels on the winery’s estate vineyards at Grace Benoist Ranch. Grace Benoist Ranch is tucked away in the far Northwest corner of the Carneros appellation, just on the Southwest corner of Sonoma. Unlike most of Carneros, which is largely uplifted bay bottoms with soils composed of clay, the soils at Grace Benoist Ranch are variations of soils influenced by volcanic origin. Individual vineyards average only eight acres in size and spacing is dense to ensure low per vine yields of fully concentrated fruit. Grace Benoist Ranch is farmed to Etude’s exacting standards, using environmentally sound viticultural practices. The Ranch is sustainably farmed and certified by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance as well as Fish Friendly Farming. Harvested: September 2-16, 2021 Vinification: 100% French oak barrels for 12 months, 25% new Clones: 100% Pinot Noir Dijon 667, 777, 113, 114, 115, 459, Pommard, Martini, Various Heirloom Vine selections

  • 2021 Etude Heirloom Grace Benoist Ranch Carneros Estate Pinot Noir
    Grace Benoist Ranch, Carneros
    Expand
Etude’s Heirloom Pinot Noir, produced from several heirloom selections of the variety, is dedicated to the celebration and preservation of plant diversity. It exemplifies the singular, superior wines – unusually expressive, concentrated, and pure – that issue from original varieties or vine selections chosen for the inherent wine quality they produce. Grown on the Etude Estate Vineyards at Grace Benoist Ranch, the grapes for our Heirloom Pinot Noir come from shy-bearing selections that produce small bunches and even smaller berries. Although some may overlook these vines due to their extremely low yields, we prize their ability to produce wines that are both expressive of their genetic origins as well as providing a unique flavor profile, which exemplifies the varied site and diversity of soils on which they’re grown. Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir Harvest Date: September 7-8, 2021 Aging: 100% French oak barrels (25% new) for 14 months Clones: Six Heirloom Selections
    Suggested Retail Price: $95.00
  • 2021 Etude Fiddlestix Vineyard Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir
    Fiddlestix Vineyard, Santa Rita Hills
    Expand
Santa. Rita Hills is home to some of Santa Barbara’s best-known Pinot Noirs and occupies the western portion of Santa Ynez Valley between Buellton and Lompoc. The region’s east-to-west orientation, extreme proximity to the Pacific Ocean, and ancient marine bed soils are perfect for world-class Pinot Noir. Fiddlestix receives a consistent marine influence from Pacific currents but sits low enough against the hills to achieve some protection from the area’s strong afternoon winds. Exposure to coastal breezes and fog ensures cooling influences throughout extended sunny days, which helps to add depth and vibrancy to the fruit. Temperatures are rarely above the mid 70’s. In 35 small blocks on 96 acres, a variety of rootstocks and clones are planted in well-draining Gazos and Batella clay loam and calcareous marine shale providing complexity and diversity to the vineyard. Nearby are some of California’s most famed and historic Pinot Noir vineyards. Sustainable Certification: SIP Certified (Sustainable In Practice) Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir Harvested: September 14-17, 2021 Vinification: 100% French oak barrels for 12 months, 25% new Clones: 667, 777, 113, 115, Pommard 4, Pommard 5
    Suggested Retail Price: $50.00

Description

Established in 1982, Etude was founded on the philosophy that winemaking begins in the vineyard, long before harvest, and that superior grape growing allows our winemakers to craft wines of exceptional varietal expression and finesse. This ethos remains unwavering as the winery continues to build upon its established legacy of exemplary Pinot Noir. The integration of this tenet allows for the continual cultivation of the highest-quality wines, reflective of the profound influences of the land and the seasons, as well as the hand of its stewards.
