WINEMAKING Heavy fog and strong winds tempered by bright afternoon sunshine produces fruit forward, bright wines. The majority of this vintage's fruit is sourced from vineyards perched on hillsides in the direct path of steady winds from the Pacific Ocean in the Petaluma Gap. This 100% Pinot Noir is blended from five vineyards and showcases the grapes from warmer vineyards situated inland on the valley floor with the cool sites producing a bone-dry wine made with minimal winemaker intervention. It expresses a pure reflection of Pinot Noir made true to the varietal expression. TASTING NOTES Winemaker Britt Richards The 2020 Pinot Noir is aromatic of warming spice, wooded earth, and kirsch. The palate is tangy with red plum, incense, and cola.

WINEMAKING The 2021 growing season saw draught conditions that resulted in high quality grapes with a low yielding vintage. Our vineyards are planted with many of the same clonal selections, each one producing a different result based on the diversity of weather throughout Sonoma County, resulting in a dynamic blend of 100% Pinot Noir. TASTING NOTES Winemaker Britt Nichols Richards This cohesive blend produced red fruit characteristics reflecting bright cherry and herbal spices on the nose, red raspberry and cola on the tongue, finishing with a pleasant forest floor undertone.

Description

True expressions of Sonoma County

We are passionate about crafting small batch wines expressive of the unique clones and AVA's reflected in our Sonoma County wines. Overseeing our vineyard operations is Rob Harris who has been farming grapes for us for over a dozen years. He maintains vital relationships with local growers sourcing fruit for Head High Wines with a dedication to finding grapes that embodies the coastal influence of this growing region. The quality of this fruit allows us to make wines that overdeliver in the glass making it the uncompromising choice for everyday wines.

Authentic winemaking qualities

Our winemaker Britt Richards takes a pure, honest approach to making these wines focusing on bringing out the aromatics of the fruit. Our vineyards are planted with many of the same clonal selections, each one producing a different result based on the diversity of weather throughout Sonoma County. This results in a dynamic vineyard blend of each varietal based on its proximity to the ocean breezes so integral in growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This style of our winemaking allows the fruit to sing and tell the story of each varietal.

The ocean is at the heart of it all

Sonoma County’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean in the fog corridor offers warm summer days, and cool nights creating the perfect growing region for our wines. We produce local wines made from unique combinations of the sun, earth and sea.

We are committed to the greater good of the ocean through our name. Head High is a term for the perfect surfing wave. We donate a percentage of the sales of Head High Wines to environmental projects that support a cleaner ocean and healthier earth. As the first Verified Climate Neutral winery, you know you can enjoy wines made with a love for our planet.
