  • 2021 Lincourt Vineyards Pinot Noir, RSR
    Sta. Rita Hills
    Expand
Lincourt wines are produced primarily from two estate vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA – wines that are rich, structured, fruit forward, and regionally exact. The fruit for this wine was harvested and sorted in the vineyard prior to arrival at the winery. The clusters were then carefully destemmed to keep the berries intact. Additional hand sorting removed any jack stems before the fruit was transferred to small, stainless steel, open-top fermenters. The juice and skins were cold soaked for 4 days prior to fermentation and then gently punched down for several days. After primary fermentation was complete, the new wine was drained and the skins were gently pressed. The 2021 Rancho Santa Rosa Pinot Noir embodies the essence of the cool climate St. Rita Hills. This wine opens with aromas of ripe fruit, dark boysenberry, pomegranate, with ribbons of red and black cherry. On the palate this Pinot Noir offers classic notes of black pepper, boysenberry, plum, and dark cherry with a soft finish of dark cacao and pomegranate acidity. The wine has moderate tannins, balanced acidity, and lush fruit on the finish.

  • 2020 Lincourt Vineyards Lindsay's Pinot Noir
    Sta. Rita Hills
    Expand
Lincourt wines are produced primarily from two estate vineyards in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA – wines that are rich, structured, fruit forward, and regionally exact. The sustainably-farmed fruit for Lindsay’s Pinot Noir comes from a beautiful south-facing hillside that climbs from 500 to 1,000 feet above sea level. It is a rolling hillside site that offers ‘limiting’ soils, large diurnal temperature swings, and a long growing season. The 2020 features Pinot Noir clones 828 and 115. The fruit was harvested and sorted in the vineyard with the clusters, then carefully destemmed to keep the berries intact.. The fruit was cold soaked for 4 days and then fermented in open top bins with regular punch downs to extract maximum color and flavor. After primary fermentation was complete, the wine was drained and the skins were gently pressed. The Pinot Noir was aged for 18 months in 5% new French oak barrels. The 2020 Lindsay’s Pinot Noir opens with aromas of bright red cherry cola and accents of red cranberry fruit with dashes or black pepper. On the palate, it is a light-bodied Pinot Noir with dominate flavors of red cranberry tart and fresh red raspberry purée. Spiced peppercorn, dried cherry, and raspberry fruit notes linger on the finish.

Description

Surrounded by California pepper trees and overlooking the Alamo Pintado Vineyard near Solvang, Lincourt retains the rustic charm and simplicity of an earlier era.

When Bill Foley founded Lincourt in 1996, the Santa Rita Hills region of Santa Barbara County was largely undiscovered. Today it is one of California's most coveted, cool-climate viticultural AVA's. Lincourt wines come primarily from two estate vineyards within the Santa Rita Hills AVA. Both are rolling, hillside sites that feature “limiting” soils, large diurnal temperature swings and long, long growing seasons. The cool maritime conditions create wines that are intense, well-structured, fruit forward and true.
