  • 2016 Cortada Alta Vineyard Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
After years of development, this vintage welcomed the first offerings from our Cortada Alta Vineyard. The vineyard’s altitude and ability to provide longer hang time shows itself through deep color and a thought-provoking texture. High-toned notes of bright berries and ripe plums provide balance to the wine’s richness. This being the first vintage of wine from the vineyard, it’s only a small preview of what’s to come in the years ahead.

  • 2017 Cortada Alta Vineyard Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
Deeply colored, our second vintage of Cortada Alta Pinot Noir showcases depth and intensity not often seen in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Aromas of ripe berries and cinnamon are framed with elegant rose petals, leading to a brooding palate of dark leather, cocoa nibs and forest floor. The elevation of the vineyard allows our fruit extra hang time and leads to an immaculate and unique texture with firm tannins and a long, fresh finish. This wine gets us excited for the potential of our new vineyard, with years of discovery to come.

  • 2018 Cortada Alta Vineyard Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
In our third year of Pinots from Cortada Alta, they continue to showcase density and intensity that expands our notion of Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir. Dark, with a brilliant purple tone that remains opaque to the rim, this wine opens with anise, fennel, holiday baking spice, cedar, wild berries, plums and vanilla bean. The palate is defined by notes of Earl Grey tea and blackberry, framed by a structure of moderate tannins — it all leads to a lengthy and complex finish.

  • 2019 Cortada Alta Vineyard Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
This dark purple, elegant Pinot Noir is a true expression of the long, cool growing season at Cortada Alta. Its intriguing nose of wild sage, black cherries, raspberry, applewood, ground coffee, and toasty oak draws you into the glass. Vibrant acidity enlivens notes of Bing cherry and raspberry pepper jelly on the fruity palate. Hints of cocoa and baking spices accent the bright, structured mid palate and transcend to a long, seamless finish.
    Suggested Retail Price: $58

Description

Mansfield-Dunne is a grower-producer of Santa Lucia Highlands wines. By owning our vineyards and meticulous organic farming we can showcase the true essence of the Santa Lucia Highlands — great wine truly starts in the vineyard.

Our two estate vineyards — Peterson Vineyard and Cortada Alta Vineyard — offer the span of possibilities in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation. Both vineyards share terroir, yet express themselves completely differently.

Cortada Alta is our high-elevation vineyard and is the highest vineyard in the AVA. The wines produced show, depth of structure and intensity. Planted in 2014, the vineyard is just starting to reach full maturity.

The Peterson Vineyard runs alongside River Road at the base of the Santa Lucia Mountains, and just above the Salinas Valley floor. Peterson is our namesake vineyard, well-known for producing wines of classic SLH aromatic intensity and elegance.
