  • 2019 Twelve Clones Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
The Twelve Clones Pinot Noir is drawn from the finest vineyards of the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation, including Morgan’s organic Double L estate — which, in the 2019 vintage, accounted for 67% of the final blend. The Twelve Clones designation denotes the original, diverse pinot plantings at the Double L. Cloudy mornings, mid-day sunshine with strong winds, and evening fog create a cool Region I type climate. The long growing season allows for gentle ripening, creating intense flavors with balanced acidity. The 2019 Twelve Clones demonstrates the finesse typical of pinot noir from the Santa Lucia Highlands. It displays aromas of black cherry, cedar, and sweet baking spices. Flavors of red and black fruit are complemented with a hint of sassafrass. Perfectly poised, this medium bodied wine is light on its feet with weightless tannins and crisp acidity. A wonderful accompaniment to roasted chicken and grilled salmon, as well as almost any duck, beef, or lamb preparation.
    Suggested Retail Price: $38.00
  • 2019 Double L Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
Conscientiously farmed since the original plantings in 1997, today Morgan’s Double L Estate Vineyard is the only certified organic vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Located at the northern end of the AVA, the vineyard’s north-south row orientation provides optimal wind and sun exposure. The grapes were hand picked and sorted in the vineyard, then sorted a second time at the winery. Native yeasts began the seven percent whole cluster fermentation in open top tanks. After fermentation, the wine was transferred into 36% new French oak for ten months of aging. The 2019 Double L Pinot Noir is rich yet energetic. Aromas of black cherry, pine forest, and rose petal are supported on the palate by flavors of red and black fruits, with a hint of cinnamon. This wine features a medium body, crisp acidity, and elegant tannins – an exquisite match for duck confit, lamb shank, or prime rib.
    Suggested Retail Price: $70.00
  • 2019 Tondré Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
Tondré Alarid and son Joe Alarid, both steeped in California’s agricultural history, planted Tondré Grapefield in 1997. Exposed southeast facing slopes, strong marine influence, and well-draining glacial soils are the recipe for ultra-premium fruit. Tondré Grapefield is SIP Certified, underlining the Alarids’ commitment to sustainable farming practices. The grapes were completely destemmed after hand sorting. Manual punch downs produced a wine with supple texture and soft tannins. The wine was transferred to 45% new French oak barrels for malo-lactic fermentation and ten months of aging. On the nose is black cherry, highlighted by espresso bean and subtle turned earth. Flavors of blue fruit and sassafras are framed by a medium body with elegant chalky tannins, making this wine extremely food friendly. Grilled salmon, roast chicken, or beef bourguignon are all great pairings.
    Suggested Retail Price: $70.00
  • 2019 Boekenoogen Pinot Noir
    Santa Lucia Highlands
    Expand
Beginning in 1997, John Boekenoogen transformed his family's historic ranch high in the Santa Lucia Mountains into one of the region's best-known estates. The high altitude Boekenoogen Vineyard is located on the northern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands, offering well-drained mountainside soils and exposure to cooling coastal air. The grapes were completely destemmed after hand sorting. Native yeasts began the whole berry fermentation in open top tanks. Manual punch downs provided supple texture and soft tannins. The wine was transferred to a combination of medium and medium-plus toast French oak barrels, 40% new, for malo-lactic fermentation and ten months of aging. On the nose, mulberry and smoked meat are highlighted by subtle savory spices. Dark fruits seamlessly transition from nose to palate with sweet baking spices, supported by a medium plus body and rich tannins. A very food-friendly wine, perfect pairings would include duck confit, roast lamb, or a mushroom risotto.
    Suggested Retail Price: $70.00
