Wines Pouring

  • 2017 "Jump Up" Pinot Noir
    Sta. Rita Hills
    Expand
The garnet color of the wine foretells of the depth of this 2017 release. A little brooding at first, a swirl releases aromas of cola and blueberry, with some herbal notes reminiscent of sagebrush. A first sip is a tell-tale of the vintage with black cherry, more blueberry, mulberry and hints of allspice, along with the rocky minerality that is a hallmark of the appellation. Rhubarb pie-like flavor and acidity and a racy texture interlaced with soft tea-like tannins round out this balanced, but a bit edgy wine. Enjoyable now but will cellar beautifully.
    Suggested Retail Price: $36
  • 2015 Mermaid's Pearl - a one barrel selection.
    Sta. Rita Hills
    Expand
A veritable treasure chest of aromas, flavors and textures abound in 2015 Mermaid’s Pearl. A dark and vibrant maroon color entices the senses. Spicy aromas of allspice and a hint of nutmeg mingle with black cherry compote and lead to a sip. A silky texture delivers more berry flavors – blueberry and black raspberry, accented with polished tannins and traces of sandalwood. A long, minerally finish lingers and lingers.
    Suggested Retail Price: $70
  • 2012 A library release! Vineyard designate Rancho la Vina.
    Sta. Rita Hills/Rancho la Vina
    Expand
A beautiful clarity and the delicate color tricks the eye into thinking this will be a somewhat feminine styled wine. A swirl though, brings boyish notes of tobacco leaf and darker berry aromas that remind of dried blueberry, huckleberry and rosehips. A taste brings layers of plum-cherry, cola and appellation-specific earthy characters that remind of chaparral in the summertime. Beautifully balanced, with lively food-friendly acidity and soft but noticeable chalky tannins.
    Suggested Retail Price: $50
