Description

"Wine is a story in a glass." – Rickey Trombetta
Trombetta Family Wines handcrafts beautifully balanced small lot Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from vineyards that exemplify the area in which they are planted. Erica Stancliff, daughter and winemaker, takes great pride in producing wines with purity of flavor and balance. We make PINOT NOIR and CHARDONNAY varieties that reflect their background...the vineyard, appellation, and winemaking all play equal roles in creating the wine in your glass. Erica spends as much time in the vineyard as in the winery, working with top growers in the PETALUMA GAP, SONOMA MOUNTAIN and RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY areas. Transparent winemaking Rickey Trombetta, mother and owner, works closely with Erica and our growers to identify only the best fruit for our wines. Paul Hobbs discovered Erica’s palate at age 10. Encouraging Erica’s talent, Paul walked vineyards around Napa and Sonoma counties with her. In 2010 Erica graduated from California State University Fresno with her degree in enology. She flew to Mendoza, Argentina to intern at Viña Cobos. Upon her return, she worked the 2011 California harvest at Rudd Estate in Napa with winemaker Patrick Sullivan. Enartis Vinquiry hired her as enologist to work with winemakers solving problems and teaching how to prevent problems from occurring. After two and a half years there she moved to CrossBarn where she picked up the reins of the Trombetta project. Erica has been the Trombetta Family winemaker since 2014.
