Daniel's winemaking journey began with his Uncle Mark, founder of Red Car Wines. Following a few harvest seasons, he traveled between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, working harvests at Craggy Range, Mount Langi Ghiran, Domaine de la Côte, and Bodega Chacra. Upon completing a B.S. in Viticulture at Cal Poly–San Luis Obispo, he honed his craft as an apprentice of Ted Lemon, working nine harvests, including two at Burn Cottage. As he progressed to Associate Winemaker, he helped develop Littorai’s biodynamic program. In 2019, Daniel returned to his Oregon roots to work for Cristom Vineyards. His implementation of biodynamic and organic farming practices has helped to make Cristom a more self-sustaining farm and has been integral to crafting wines that are an honest recording of the vineyard and vintage.
Daniel is a featured winemaker for the Honoring 40 years in the Willamette Valley Dinner on Saturday, March 2, at 7:00pm.
