Gary Darakjian

Lead Sommelier at Trelio Food & Wine

Gary Darakjian is a sommelier in charge of the beverage program at Trelio Food & Wine in Clovis, California, working closely with chef/sommelier Chris Shackelford to offer delicious and diverse wines at all quality levels to guests. Additionally, Gary has consulted locally for other programs, always seeking to surprise and delight others with the charms that only good wine can provide.

Gary’s journey in the restaurant industry began in Seattle, Washington, during his time at Canlis, one of the northwest’s premier fine dining destinations. There he encountered a culture of hospitality that encouraged him to serve guests with warmth and excellence. It was here that he was exposed to their world-class wine program, an experience that continues to inspire his passion today. A move home to Fresno led to a position at the Annex Kitchen and an opportunity to deepen his passion for wine and pursue certification. In 2020, he accepted his current position at Trelio, working with the service team to pursue greater appreciation of wine for both guests and staff through nightly dinner service, wine club events, and guest chef and sommelier dinners.

Gary lives in Fresno with his wife, Allyson, and two sons, Artie and Ozzie.
