    Expand
This 2021 wine is an elegant high-elevation Pinot noir from Carlile’s Crest Vineyard bursting with amazing aromas, good acidity and structure. The wine was made from 777 and 115 Pinot noir clones planted in 2011. A section of the 115 block that has small clusters and small berries was layered in as whole clusters for added complexity. The wine was aged in a small amount of new oak to complement the wine but not overpower it. Grapes from this vineyard are typically found in Antica Terra blends.

Description

Cortell Collection is a new project by Jessica Cortell, Ph.D who is the owner of Vitis Terra Vineyard Services LLC a renowned vineyard management company in the Willamette Valley founded in 2010. In addition to managing vineyards for several high profile clients, she also owns two of her own vineyards, one of which is named Carlile's Crest Vineyard.

Carlile's Crest Vineyard, located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA is at an elevation of 650 to 800 feet, a south-west aspect with both volcanic and sedimentary soils. The vineyard is managed with organic and regenerative agriculture practices for many years. No cultivation was done since 2017. The estate, in addition to vineyard, is diverse with oak savanna, multiple bird species and is home to Kune kune grazing pigs, chickens and livestock dogs. Organic and ROA certification are coming soon.

The grapes usually are in the Antica Terra blends. This is the first time it is a stand alone vineyard designate wine.
