  The 2020 Ladera Pinot Noir is a single-clone expression, crafted using the vibrant Swan clone. The grapes were harvested at night, hand sorted and gently de-stemmed (20% whole cluster stem inclusion) to small open-top fermenters where the fruit underwent a 7 day “cold soak” to extract maximum fruit character. Once fermentation started, gentle maceration techniques were employed to ensure proper extraction was reached. The wine was drained without pressing and aged in 55% new French oak barrels for 15 months. The aromatic and vibrant 2020 Ladera Pinot Noir reveals a deep ruby hue, packed with enticing berry fruits, captivating spice and floral elements. Bright aromas of raspberry, cranberry and cola are accentuated with fresh notes of violet and baking spice. The flavorful palate is layered with tart red fruits and fine integrated tannins that extend through the finish. Bright and balanced, miniscule quantities of this exceptional vintage was produced, showcasing the quality of Pillow Road

  The 2021 Ladera Pinot Noir is a blend of three clones: 42% Swan, 48% Calera and 10% Pommard 4. The grapes were harvested at night, hand sorted and gently de-stemmed (20% whole cluster stem inclusion) to small open-top fermenters where the fruit underwent a 7 day “cold soak” to extract maximum fruit character. Once fermentation started, gentle maceration techniques were employed to ensure proper extraction was reached. The wine was drained without pressing and aged in 57% new French oak barrels for 15 months. The 2021 Ladera Pinot Noir reveals a deep ruby hue with captivating aromas of wild berries and ripe black cherry, highlighted with notes of sandalwood and vanilla. The expansive palate reveals a core of red cherry supported by a silky texture, fine tannin structure and vibrant acidity. Fruit driven, pure and fresh, a true expression of Pillow Road vineyard and the remarkable 2021 vintage.

  The Pillow Road vineyard is located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, southwest of the city of Sebastopol, in an area affectionately known as the Sebastopol Hills. Located just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and featuring the ideal Goldridge sandy loam soils, the vines at Pillow Road thrive in ideal climatic conditions, yielding beautiful expressions of cool-climate Chardonnay. Planted in 2008, the Pillow Road vineyard features two Chardonnay clones, Old Wente and the aromatic Mt. Eden 809, both of which complement each another in the final blend. : The Chardonnay grapes were harvested during the night to preserve the delicate, fresh fruit characters, then hand sorted and gently whole cluster pressed. After pressing, the juice was cold settled for 24 hours and barrel fermented for added texture. The wine was aged sur-lies in 58% new French oak for 15 months and stirred routinely to enhance the rich, complex palate. The 2020 Ladera Chardonnay offers pretty aromas of poached pear, candied lemon and toasted hazelnut with an intriguing minerality and subtle oak spice. The juicy palate is soft and refined with a creamy texture and quenching acidity that builds through the finish. This flavorful, fresh and balanced wine represents the site, varietal and everything we are striving for in a great Chardonnay.

The opulent palate is pure and elegant, supported with a creamy texture and quenching acidity that cascades through the long flavorful finish.
